Art at the Parliament

Working at the Parliament has unexpected many perks.

1) It is located in a nice area, near my home, the metro stations, and fun places to explore.
2) It has a lot of fun art and other cultural items being brought into it all the time!

On Wednesday during our lunch break, my coworker proposed we try a local pizza parlor about 15 minutes out from the Parliament. And it was so good! It was as authentic as what I had back in Italy, I was pleasantly surprised. The walk to the restaurant was very nice as well. There is a beautiful park behind the Parliament.

Today, as I was walking into the building, I ran across the following pictures! All for a movement to protect the environment. I love how conscious everyone here is of recycling and preserving what we have.

I am learning that the European Parliament does more than unite countries politically - it unites them into a European identity as well. While sometimes inefficient, it is a positive force that is helping alleviate differences between cultures that have caused great conflict and strife in the past. It allows for the exchange of knowledge and ideas by providing an arena in which members of states can meet.
